3 Instances When You Need To Rush Your Dog To The Animal Hospital

Posted on

It's frightening to notice that all is not well with your pet. Actually, panic is perhaps the first impulse you get when your pet develops a serious health problem. If your pup is unwell or shows some signs of being unhealthy, it's advisable to rush them to an animal hospital for timely treatment. Some mild health issues may just need a vet to come home and treat your pet. But if your pet develops severe health problems, you may have to take them to the hospital.

See when you should rush your dog to the animal hospital.

1. They Are Hit by a Vehicle

If a vehicle hits your dog on the road, you shouldn't take them home. The worst mistake you can make is assuming that the pet will be well or recover at home. Even though the pet may not look severely injured, you should take them to the animal hospital for close examination. Hidden injuries are among the major reasons most pets die after an accident.

Although the pet might not show serious signs of physical injury, they could experience internal bleeding. Moreover, some of the internal organs like the liver, lungs, and spleen might be bruised. In this case, taking the dog to the hospital will help save their life.

2. They're Bleeding

Any continuous bleeding from your dog indicates that they need the vet's attention. It's wrong to keep the bleeding dog at home, expecting that the bleeding could soon stop. Instead, it's advisable to take the pet to the animal hospital for the vet to identify the cause.

The vet will evaluate the tendons, blood vessels, nerves, tissues, and muscles to identify the underlying cause of the problem. If the punctures or bite wounds aren't treated in good time, they may lead to nasty abscesses. Severe bleeding can also cause serious health complications if it's not timely addressed.

3. They Struggle to Urinate or Are Completely Unable to Urinate

If your pet struggles to pass urine, you have an emergency that a vet should address. Whether the pet struggles to urinate or can't pass urine at all, you should immediately take them to the animal hospital. Your dog won't urinate if there are bladder stones or crystals are lodged somewhere in the urethra.

Dealing with a blocked urethra is the last thing you may want your dog to experience. The pet may also be unable to urinate due to urinary tract infections. Whichever the case, it's good to take the pet to the hospital for the vet to examine them and decide the best treatment for them.

Some of the health problems your pet may develop can be treated at home. Unfortunately, some of them can only be handled in the animal hospital. So if any of the above happened to your pet, taking them to the hospital is the first thing you should do.
